They'll Think I've Gone Mad!

Me? the person who used to be a Christmas Grump, buying a Christmas cushion............ .................impossible!

But it's true

How many times have I scoffed at all the special Christmas furnishings?

You'll have guessed where it came from.

Yes, you're right of course

A Car boot sale, obviously

For £1

The cover needs a wash but it zips off so that's OK.

Oh dear, looks like I've succumbed to all the Christmas hype and the buying frenzy!

  2. Steady on Sue, you've started something there! Lol

    Love the cushion.

  3. I love it! You deserve things that you like and make you feel good. And you certainly didn't spend too much on it, so enjoy!

    1. It looks good on a deep red armchair - even though half of me thinks I'm nuts!

  4. But it could be viewed as a multipurpose buy. This year a cushion in your home, next year converted into 2 or 3 Xmas gift bags....

    1. It's not as big as it looks in the photo so I think it will stay as a cushion for a while

  9. I don't think you are at all mad, especially at that price. It gives me great delight to pull out all the Christmas stuff every year and sort a feel a connection with Christmasses past (my past).
(and yes, I have a festive duvet cover - well, a red and green tartan one anyway, soft and cosy brushed cotton, that only comes out at Christmas)
Bonkers? Well, maybe, but it's fun!

Could you make another cover so it can be used all year round?

  11. I think it is wonderful that you are able to make the odd new tradition and I love the cushion.
Christmas is so insistent commercially that one can't ignore it.
I have tended to be a grump in the past about all the hype. Result has been leaving everything to the last minute which as I cook cake, mince pies, sausage rolls, etc etc from scratch becomes a nightmare, to say nothing of cards, presents, decorations etc.
This year I’ve vowed to be different!
You will help your whole family enormously by embracing Christmas and some of your grandchildren will be old enough to entertain you all!
There will be sad times too and I, for one, will be thinking of you and admiring your bravery.

  14. Love it! Very tasteful and not garish which is good in my book!

  15. Look, we know you, know that you like car boot sales, and find many bargains. And that cushion doesn't look particularly Christmassy to me, so no you are not mad.

You should see my garden, adorned with baubles and tinsel, from a car boot sale, and I don't do Christmas. I intend leaving it all there until I start hedge trimming in the spring.

    1. I know I'm not mad too. Tinsel in the garden would be off and away with the wind today - it is so rough out there

  16. I agree with Joy - you could make a cover to pop over it for 50 or so weeks of the year,.
Then - - ta-da - out cones the Chrustmas cushion, which your grandchildren will be glad to recognise every year!

  17. That looks like it could be ideal tucked into the small of the back in the armchair.

  18. One whole pound? You spoil yourself - and so you should! Nothing wrong with a little bit of cheer.

    2. Luckily he never worried about my car boot bargains as I only bought useful..........or books!

  22. You could always call it a 'winter cushion' as the design isn't over the top Christmassy (is that a word?) - a great find at only a pound and perfect for a red chair.

  23. I'm the same, Sue! I don't go in for stuff which is only for Christmas ... but this is lovely, even I would've been tempted (and then bought a book instead, ha ha!) Seriously, it's really pretty and I would've bought it!

  25. It's really pretty. I don't do a lot of Christmas decorating now that the kids are all grown up. Not really feeling it this year. It's the first year daughter won't be here for Christmas. Middle son will probably have to work too.

  27. Well I think it's a little spark of joy, which is good at this time of year and good quality fabric too.
My British grandmother used to say 'a little bit of what you fancy never hurt anyone ' so enjoy your lovely bargain.
