June Library Books + A Dismal Day

Another  collection of interesting reading from the mobile library last week.

The four crime fiction were all ones I'd ordered as was the Rachel Allen which Angela at Tracing Rainbows said contained some interesting recipes and also "A Basket by the Door" which is something that had come up on Amazon suggestions. What I didn't realise is that is Australian and just recipes using things readily obtainable there. I feel quite guilty for suggesting the library buy it!
The other two were on the library van shelves. "Home Economics" I've borrowed before but hadn't seen "Superfoods from the Garden".
So not really very much actual reading this month, good job I have 3 left from last month as well as the pile of my own To Be Read.

Below is last months heap and several went back unread for various reasons.
Tangent by Caroline Goldsmith was a novel sort-of based on the Ipswich Prostitute murders - didn't fancy reading after all and I couldn't get into "Death will find me" or "Head Count". I tried the Kate Atkinson book "Transcription" but couldn't be bothered with it. The three still  here waiting to be read are "Middle England", Tragedy at Law" and "The Colour of Murder". Those I did read are on the Books Read 2019 page.

What a dismal day it was on Saturday, rain and wind just as forecast. I'd put an advert for Saturday into the Suffolk Smallholders Newsletter inviting anyone to see what there was for sale in the workshop. From a bale of baler twine and a flashing light for a tractor to nails and hammers.......... But No Phone calls to get directions. I thought the weather might actually be a benefit as no one could do much outside work....................  Looks like I'll be taking things to a car boot sale after all.

Thanks for comments on Saturdays post
Back Tomorrow

  1. What a shame no-one came. It was horrible here too, lovely yesterday and back to horrible today!
I'd never have known that the Rachel Allen was Australian friendly either, seein as she's on UK TV. How disappointing.

    1. It was the other book " a basket by the door" by Sophie Hanson which is the Australian one.
A housework day today I think

  2. I would say everything edible from the garden is a superfood. What can be more packed with vitamins, minerals and goodness than home grown, freshly picked produce from plot to plate in a few minutes? Especially dandelions!

  3. What a shame no one came - I am sure if you set up a stall outside B&Q you would get many takers! It might just have been a difficult weekend for people might be worth another go.
Sunday was a better day for us more sun than rain.

  5. Sorry you did not get any takers for your bits and pieces guess the weather was to blame. We have rain again to day but Sunday was beautful, I went to a pretty village with my D and DG to an open gardens day 12 gardens open for the Church Carol got several plants for she is redoing her garden. I only brought one plant Phlomis [2 plants in pot) quite big £1.0 so I was happy. We had nice homemade cake and tea.

  6. Such a shame no one came by, maybe a car boot sale is the answer. Thankfully no rain here at the moment.

  7. Not a nice couple days here either. I think a boot sale is in order.

As for the books - sometimes I have to be in a certain mood to read something. I borrowed some from the library - they sounded great when I got them - but now none of them catch my fancy so back they will go.

    1. Since Colin died I've not been able to get into anything serious, only crime fiction seems to suit.
