16th December Advent Photo

Something completely different today and it didn't get into the 1st December photo of all my Christmas books because it was tucked away at the end of a row on the bookcase and got pushed behind other books.

This has been sitting around waiting to be read for several years. Katie Fforde's books are a bit light and fluffy, not my usual reading but I don't mind one now and again and  they make a change from crime!

I started to read it but honestly the (VERY) short stories were such rubbish that I gave up after a couple and popped it in the bag for the next charity shop trip.

Good news from the estate agent is that the people who own the bungalow I'm buying have found a property to buy in Kent with no chain. So hopefully nothing to stop everything being straightforward. (Famous last words!).
Thanks again for comments and sorry for not replying - busy week this week with babysitting the 'bubble' grandchildren twice, chimney sweep, swimming, shopping, library van, baking mince pies (and my mincemeat with chopped apricots instead of raisins is fine) and now I need to start list making for moving.

Back Tomorrow

  1. So pleased about the positive news re the bungalow. It sounds like you're very busy right now. I'm glad the CS are open again, I'll be making some more donation trips myself soon, as the downsizing continues

    1. I'm worried that a probable lockdown through January will see charity shops shut again before I've finished taking things to them.

  2. Good news on the move, I think estate agents are the only people making a profit in these straitened times.

  4. Good news that your sellers have found somewhere so quick. At this rate you should be in before March. Do you have anyone to help you with the packing and sorting etc?

    1. I moved house without help packing twice when Col wasn't well so I expect it will go OK. Might need a hand taking the beds to bits and moving the garden stuff unless I get the removal people to do it all

  5. That is excellent news. We will all keep our fingers crossed that it all goes smoothly and is as stress free as moving home can be.

  8. Good news on the bungalow, fingers crossed things go ahead smoothly for you. I thought I had this book but it turns out that my Katie Fforde Christmas book is called 'A Christmas Stocking and other stories'. It's on my bedside table but I've yet to dip into it, if it's no good I have Nigel Slaters Christmas Chronicles to start. I got it just AFTER last Christmas and couldn't bring myself to read it then.

I wonder ... am I the only one who says her name in my head as Katie F Forde, even though now after living in Wales I do know the correct pronunciation, haha.

  12. Great news about your new home after the disappointment of the new build. Did I mess where you talked about it (the bungalow, I mean)? I must trawl back and look. Or maybe I just don't remember. :-)
