Secondly I must apologise for lack of replies to comments and lack of commenting on other blogs this week. It's been a busy week and when I haven't been busy I've been weeding, grass cutting and trying to get on with some reading. It's library van day next week and I've still got a big pile un-read.
Also hello and welcome to some more followers, happy to have you along and I hope you enjoy my ramblings about life in Suffolk.
And now the proper blog post............
The late August Bank Holiday was the second busiest time of the year when we owned the campsite and it would either be hot and sunny with tents turning up without booking or wet and nasty so people who had booked didn't turn up.
I'm glad I no longer have to worry about either event! And after 4 years I really should stop harping on about the campsite!
God willing and as long as all things go as planned my bank holiday weekend will involve a visit to a church flower festival
Crowfield Church |
A Small South Suffolk Town! |
and a meet up with fellow blogger Rachel-in-Norfolk for a coffee and a look around the Eye Art show.
I also have a pile of ironing that I've been avoiding all week, there are quite a few "cellar" spiders to hoover up (heavens knows why they are called cellar spiders as they live anywhere) and probably 100 other jobs to do if I look.
Plus of course there are 3 car boot sales that I could visit - somehow I don't think I'll get to all three!
And if none of these plans come to fruition then I'll just be happy living My Quiet Life in Suffolk
Back Tomorrow
Sue
I am going to change my blog name over today as well, I am happier now I have got away from the frugal living bit, but am going to change my current one as I feel my blogs have got a bit too "themed", yes 3 carboots here as well, we hope to sell on Sunday, the weather is meant to be a scorcher as well.
ReplyDeleteI changed my blog name and address so I am here now.
DeleteBit spooky that we both decided to change on the same day!
Deletei like reading about your time on the small holding , it's interesting, please carry on, i hope your weekend goes well x
ReplyDeleteThank you, there are lots of memories of our 23 years there
DeleteWhat a wonderful looking church, enjoy the flower festival - and cakes!
ReplyDeletegood weather forecast so I shall enjoy the weekend
DeleteI live in Kent but I have had holidays in Suffolk for over 30 years and most of them on a campsite in the Rendlesham forest which is just perfect if you have dogs. Sadly that is all behind me now as I felt I couldn't manage the caravan single handed and so sold it. However your blog brings back many happy memories and I love reading it.
ReplyDeleteI'll keep sharing lots of Suffolk news for you
DeleteA change is as good as a rest and for someone who is as proud of their county as you are, I'm not surprised you've gone back to having Suffolk in your blog title. I have ived in four different counties and two countries (Wales), but my birth county of Yorkshire is always a big 'pull' for me.
ReplyDeleteI love living in Suffolk and have only wanted to move away for brief moments
DeleteWhat a lovely looking church, they are all stone around here. Your weekend sounds like anything but quiet I hope you can find some peace in and amongst all that busyness! Ironing in on the to do list for me today too, I am not a fan but it is very satisfying when you get to the bottom of the basket isn't it?
ReplyDeleteIt's a small church nowhere near the village but they have such a good book and jigsaw sale.
DeleteIroning still waiting!
....when I haven't been busy I've been weeding, grass cutting .....
ReplyDeleteWow, what do you call weeding, grass cutting etc.? Relaxation, taking it easy? LOL
Meant to say, I like your new blog title!
DeleteI suppose that working at home doesn't feel as busy as gadding about around the county!
DeleteI like the new name of your blog and what is more important is that you like the name. I have enjoyed your blog for several years now. It sounds like you have a busy and fun weekend planned! Have fun meeting up with Rachel again. I enjoy her blog too, in fact I met her through your blog.
ReplyDeleteI think it is so interesting that your son will be supervising an Archaeological dig! I have always been interested in Archeology. I would love to hear about some of the things he studies and discovers sometime. It is fascinating that your country has so much history.
Son has been an Archaeologist ever since he finished his University degree, he's been lucky as there aren't that many jobs in the profession.
DeleteHe would love to have a really good "Find"
I was going to say the same about the Archaeology. Doe he have a blog LOL
DeleteThat's an unusual looking church. I used to change the name on my blog quite regularly years ago like the weather! Look forward to seeing you on Monday. They don't open the church until 11 so may arrive a few minutes after, see you in there.
ReplyDeleteThat gives me plenty of time to go to the car boot first!
DeleteI like your new name. I started a blog many years ago but never finished it so I might try and finish it. Have a nice time with Rachel and would love to meet up with a Blogger.
ReplyDeleteHope you get to the Flower Festival, I got involve with our church when we were doing one.
My back has been bad this week so I have miss the garden this week and hopefully I will do a light job like cutting back a Clematis.
Have a nice weekend Sue and everyone else.

Oh do fish your blog out of hiding and share it, it's an interesting hobby
DeleteSorry to hear about your back, hope it gets better soon- touching wood mine has been OK for several months now
Haha I’ve never heard them called cellar spiders before.....I always call them anorexic spiders......I can deal with them but not the big black ones that trot across my floor in hobnail boots.....I even found one the size of my palm on my towel.....on my towel!! I now give my bathroom a microscopic going over before I go through the door.....very phobic about spiders.....
ReplyDeleteI used to call them field spiders but found their proper name is Cellar spiders- they are a pain - have so many babies and make a mess and get in all corners of the rooms
DeleteA name change is good to do. I should consider it, too since I rarely write about birds, blooms or books anymore. Mostly it's now the etc. in my life. Something to consider going forward. Thanks for the nudge.
ReplyDeleteI too am fascinated by archaeology so I hope you can share what your son is doing.
Much of his work as an Archaeologist is boring like writing up reports, he doesn't do as much digging as he would like but is looking forward to supervising amateur volunteers for a couple of weeks next month
DeleteI like the name change, just as I liked the previous name and I so enjoy reading all your various entries. It seems a good time to say thanks very much for all the pleasure I get from them.
ReplyDeleteCrowfield Church looks interesting and I've started a list of 'places to visit' for when I'm next your way next year. Thanks.
Have a lovely day, whatever you do and however it turns out.
xx
Thank you for reading!
DeleteHope you saw the note about car parking in Aldeburgh for your visit next year - FREE in the street apart from carnival day.
Reading your post today not sure that the word 'quiet' should be there!! Enjoy your week end - wish I could join you and Rachel.
ReplyDeleteBusy by choice!
DeleteIt would be lovely for you to join us - but a bit too far for a coffee. Hope the Show goes well near you
I recognise your Small South Suffolk Town - very close to me!
