There were quite a lot of picture hooks in the rooms here so I took advantage of them to hang most of my cross stitch, tapestries, paintings and prints. Some are a bit high but easier than drilling even more holes in the walls.
Then I had to ask
Brother-in-Law to come and drill some holes for hanging
up the big painting and the big mirror. I'd tried but couldn't get the
holes deep enough for big screws. He also helped hang the pirate boat
measuring chart - which was awkward as it needed to be just the right height off the floor. Now the grandchildren
can get measured again.
This is the big picture, my favourite painting by Eldest Daughter when she was at school. She took my pots with plants off to school for several weeks and this was the result.
After this she only did strange paintings of broken dolls and then in her Art Foundation Course decided that textile print design was what she liked best and that's what she did at Uni and continues with now.
In the small bedroom the previous owners used as an office, one wall is covered with little hooks, the sort that are hammered in with three tiny nails. They had so many family photos here.
This is now the bedroom for visiting Grandson and I wish I'd bought the box of Ladybird book cover postcards that I saw at a boot sale years ago but seemed too expensive for me. They could have been fixed into clip frames and used here.
Thanks to everyone for comments about the church. I always feel sad that so many are only used for an hour on a Sunday.

What a talented artist your daughter is. The painting is lovely. As for the hooks in the small bedroom, I'd be tempted to try (carefully) to remove them. They shouldn't be too difficult to remove and shouldn't make too much mess. Any holes can be filled with Polyfilla. Then you can put up the pictures you want, where you want! xx
ReplyDeleteYes I might do that although they are well fixed and sealed with paint - and I've got to track down the paint colour to touch up in the living room where I did remove some and it left big holes - now filled but waiting for paint which is the same as the bedroom
DeleteYopur daughter is obviously very talented. How does she use her textile print design ability? I know it's designing textile prints, I just wondered what kind, etc. Being curious.

She worked for Monsoon and Phase8 and a couple of other companies in the past and is now trying to be freelance selling her designs to clothing companies which came to a halt with covid - but now shes on maternity leave.

DeleteSue - as a non religious person I would still say that hopefully the church you showed us yesterday is visited by plenty of people and often used for private prayer. It is so beautiful - I still remember it so well although it is many years since I was there.

ReplyDeleteThat painting by your daughter is gorgeous. I am surprised that the former owners didn't remove all the hooks and patch the walls. It's what I we expected for a house we bought and for one we sold. Different customs I guess. Doesn't it feel good to make the house your home. We have that feeling here now too.

ReplyDeleteYour daughter's painting is wonderful, a special picture. I bought a set of seaside greetings cards and have 4 of them framed on my wall. Our daughter in law bought a reference type book of Christmas paintings. She carefully took the book apart and gave several framed pictures to various family members. I'm sure you will be keeping an eye out at boot sales.
ReplyDeleteYour daughter's painting shows lovely talent. You must be very proud of her. Placing art on the walls adds much to our homes. I like to place my art and make rotations occasionally or add a new piece. You have the perfect room for lots of art.

ReplyDeleteYour daughter's painting is truly beautiful! She has quite a talent. I've always thought that textile print design was interesting. I love the growth chart for the grandchildren. It's fun to keep a record of how they each grow.
