I Only Went in One Charity Shop.......................

.................which was a jolly good thing as the Asda shop cost an arm and a leg!

Having No Spend January and Frugal February just means that some things hadn't been replaced for a while which turns into big-spend-at-Asda in March! Then with family here too and buying edibles for small people, food for a family lunch, gifts for the baby shower, gluten free for DIL's sister and finding several things on my list  were on offer so I doubled up, I nearly fell over at the till when it headed toward the £90 mark!
Oh well - it still works out cheaper than having a giant Indian Takeaway and spending that much is a very, very, rare occurrence nowadays.
I did use my last Asda price check voucher and remembered the car park £1 refund voucher and after getting home I checked the Asda Price comparison  website and printed out a £2.10 voucher to use next time- all small comfort!

I had to go into the town centre to the Post Office and had time for just one charity shop and picked the right one because I spotted this great ol' bag of Duplo for £4.99.

We gave Jacob some Duplo  for his 1st birthday. There are some bits here to add to what we gave him which he can have for his 2nd Birthday(when I find out what he's short of) and Florence can have the rest to add to the box that I found for her at a car boot last year  -for Christmas this year.
 Presents sorted! Happy Nanna!
Now I'm just looking out for Duplo people that never seem to be included in the bundles I find.

Hello and welcome to follower 290. Whoop Whoop nearly 300 but will I ever get to 437 .... the number on the old blog, which I'm sure is more than when I stopped and that means people are still starting to follow a blog that I don't write anymore!
Not that I'm chasing followers or anything like that!
I know some people don't follow or comment because they think it gives all their personal info away but anyone clicking a picture or comment name sees minimal information or none at all if the profile is blocked.

I'm so sorry the price of 'that' book from Monday's post is now ridiculous. I found out about it from a comment on the Books Read 2017 page and liked the sound of it and ordered around Christmas time and it was just 1p back then. I hope the price will drop again soon. I've just ordered a winter/Christmas book by Susan Hill  that someone mentioned last year (Lanterns Across the Snow),  when I added it to my wish list  the price was several £ because it was winter and I suppose people were buying it to read over Christmas. But by waiting I got it for 1p plus postage. It pays to wait!

But now I have a new added responsibility to worry about.................what if everyone who has bought the book doesn't like it! Oh dear what a worry.................

Back Tomorrow
Sue

  1. I’m finding followers are few, but visits are many. It’s odd. Hopefully people do find a reason to follow eventually. Good luck for the big 300!

    1. Do you have a blog? Yours is one where the profile is blocked when I click on your name!

  2. Don't worry. If they don't like it the book will doubtless find its way back to the second hand market and the price will come down!

  3. I'm sure people will like the book, don't worry! :-)
That was one big shop but I'm sure it was necessary and it will all even out over time. Sometimes it just has to be done, doesn't it? The Duplo sounds amazing value and you are a lovely Nanna!

    1. I'm not really worried - if people want to buy a book after reading my blog that's up to them.

  4. I hope there's enough oxygen in that bag for the duplo cow! x

  5. Can you buy packs of Duplo people independent of the kits. I used to live the little Duplo farm animals ... I see you have a cow 😊

My book is on its way, I'll let you know if I like it.

  6. I was a follower on your old blog (when your header was a bowl of apples and a lovely old jug) and presumed that it would all carry across to this one when you moved house. Perhaps I should do the 'honourable' thing (lol) and follow you again seeing as I read your postings every day.

We are looking for some Duplo for S our new grand-daughter as our older grand-daughter A loved it when she was younger. Our daughter loved Lego when she was young and had amassed quite a collection of it which I kept and gave back to her when A was old enough not to put it in her mouth (lol).

I should have ordered that book when it was £10, but was a bit reluctant to spend that amount. Never mind, I'll wait as I'm a very patient soul.

    1. I don't do google+ so don't know about circles but because the followers bit is at the top of the page I usually notice numbers creeping up.

  9. I'm still managing to get by on small top up shops but there will come a point when I have to do a larger shop which I am not looking forward to.
The Duplo was a good find and brilliant that it sorts out two gifts.

    1. It was the most I've spent at once for YEARS but it seemed silly to buy one of something that was on a good offer and then pay full price for another one next month. April Will be better fingers crossed

  10. I have Duplo blocks in my basement. Thet were my children's and then my grandchildren’s. If I am lucky enough to live to see my great-grandchildren, they will be theirs. Duplo blocks never break and all children enjoy them.

  11. Isn’t it lovely to find gifts at the thrift? I’ll be looking for men’s shirts to make a quilt for our grand baby, due in Sept.
I don’t comment a lot because so many have goooogle instead of anon. Goooogle is such a pain sometimes, it spins and spins and spins and never publishes, anyway. Such a waste of time to write a comment and then it won’t go. Just my two cents.
Have a lovely visit with family!

    1. I guess its easier to comment when you have a blog, some people start a blog but never write anything on it, then they can comment easily but anyone clicking to see who is commenting just finds an empty blog page!

  12. I don¡t normally tick to be a follower but you are making me feel I should as I really enjoy your posts.
I was going to suggest eBay. I found wonderful bargains which included figures and animals when our grandchildren were small. The diplomat is now awaiting the next batch!

  13. What a great bargain! And with thrift shops, you have to take things when you see them or they will disappear :)

  16. I do show as following your blog but since you changed it, it doesn't come up in my feed. Maybe there are more people following than it shows. That was a great charity shop find.

  17. Good job on the bag of toys! I actually bought a vintage cut glass pitcher yesterday from a Facebook group that posts things for sale. I should start trying to sell some things on there! ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  18. Another nice find at the charity shop! You seem to be doing quite well lately. I have to admit I haven't been to one lately. I'm really trying (and somewhat failing) to be good and not spend a lot of money.
