December 10th and the Christmas trees in the Church

Finally got to Stowmarket church to look at this years Christmas tree festival. Some lovely trees as always. With carols playing over the speakers sure to put even the most Bah Humbug person into Christmas mood.

After wandering all round and taking some photos I sat and enjoyed a coffee and mince pie (second of the season) listening to the carols.

Every clock face has a sentence using the word - TIME, to tell the story of the birth of Jesus

The one on the left is a bit..................odd?

Baby Jesus inside the tree - a different idea

Every pew has these bottle top Christmas trees

Christmas Tree Festivals are becoming a popular way for churches to fund raise. The Stowmarket one has been happening every December for many years. Worth a look  to make you feel Christmassy if you see one advertised.

  1. The tree festival is a lovely idea. I saw a church a couple of years ago to the town I lived in they were beautiful. My daughter was telling me they are having one in her village this year which we hopefully are going to next week. I went to Waddesdon Manor yesterday it was very pretty and got me in the mood.

  2. Some very innovative trees and that odd red one! I have made the small sewn trees often but always end up giving them away. I use 10 tops and put a felt trunk at the bottom. I have only been once to a tree festival and it was magical. Thank you for showing this lovely event.

    1. The church was selling kits to make them one year. They have them on every pew - must have taken a long time to make them all

  3. The odd red tree is clearly sponsored by the local colorectal unit as that's not a bad representation of a lower intestine ......

    1. Oh Yuck - I shall have to go back now and see who it was actually done by!

  4. Individually the trees are lovely and I have seen these Christmas Tree festivals here. Your photos illustrate some lovely decorations. However, collectively I find the sight of all the trees is not so pleasing to look at in a church, somewhat out of place, and can so easily look a mess.

    1. Yes I know what you mean, they have gradually got more and more trees so some seem a bit squashed in and untidy.
Although it's a good fundraiser and nice to sit with coffee listening to carols in the quiet of a church.

  8. The church looks lovely, even more so with all the beautifully decorated trees. I had to laugh at the 'lower intestines' one!

  10. I've just caught up on your last few posts. Isn't it fun to shock your children?! And I rejoice with you that your kitchen is now finished and you are happy with it. ; )
Thank you for the lovely trees as I sit with a quiet white world outside my windows after receiving over a foot of snow yesterday.

  11. Thank you for sharing. There hasn't been one here on the Island so it was a joy to browse yours.

  12. It is lovely when you can just sit isnt it? Not have to rush off somewhere else. I was with you imagining sitting in the peace and listening to the carols.

  17. That is lovely, well all apart from the strange, simple red decorated tree ... but even that may have a story behind it. I think our local church does something similar but on a smaller scale, I should go and have a look.
