Looking For............

Thought I'd better make a list of what I'm looking for at boot sales this year................

  • For Willow...............  young children's classic books like  Very Hungry caterpillar
  • For Willow...............Wooden fit-the-shapes-in puzzles
  • For Florence..........winter clothes aged  3 - 4 .....ready for next winter
  • For Jacob's birthday ? (must ask eldest what Jacob needs)
  • For me..............vest tops in light colours
  • Things that would make Christmas gifts
  • Printer cartridges - Epson with a cheetah picture - vain hope!
  • A lemon balm plant
  • Kilner or similar bottles (Not jars -have plenty of them) for flavoured vinegar gifts
  • There is something else but I can't think what at the moment!
MUST NOT BUY
Christmas cards and craft stuff.

So what did I find at my first boot-sale of the season..............................

There were lots of car boots with tons of stuff, many big vans with boxes full of house clearance rubbish and it looked hopeful.

But............................no real treasure...... however I did tick wooden puzzles off the list.

The small batteries fit the doorbell and I've been carrying an old one around for ages trying to remember to find some new spares = £1. The puzzles for Willow, one 50p and the other £1.50, book 50p (I've picked up Margery Allingham books before and then resold on Ziffit and this one is worth 79p to them at the moment, so I shall read and sell, a 29p profit is not to be sniffed at!) The chocolates? - they are my Brexit store!  = 50p each with 5 mini things in each pack.

So one car boot sale down and many more to come - I hope

Thank you for all the Magpie comments yesterday. Amazing that two people saw eightand boys were born. Don't think I've seen more than 3 or 4 at once, usually two.

Back Tomorrow

  1. OOh, I hadn't thought about chocolate for my Bexit store. Maybe it would be better if I don't think about chocolate.

  2. A good idea to start making a list already. Ticking them off will be most satisfying!

  3. I'd never actually thought of making a list, what a great idea! Must have a look and see when our local boot sales are starting, and try to get to more this year...we failed quite dismally last year, even though it was husband's first full year of retirement (he always worked weekends before).

  4. You certainly did well at the car boot. We have got a large cricket pitch and football pitch with a big pavilion in the village but they don't have car boots there. At least they do have 3 jumble sales a year and lots ot other events

  6. I will take a picture of our eight magpies - they are a greedy bunch and perform some real circus tricks trying to get at the half coconut which has fat inside and dangles from an iron post.
You did well at the Boot sale - the book loks like one my mum would read. I will make a note of the author and title.

    1. Margery Allinghams books date from the 1940s. This was a very short read -

  7. Well done with your car boot finds. On the subject of Magpies, 55 years ago or so, I remember counting 26 in a field at West End, on the outskirts of Southampton. There is a colony nearly as big on the farm with the Jersey cows nearly at the A40 here - I have counted 16 there at one time. The rhyme I know is the One for Sorrow, Two for Joy, Three for a Letter, Four something Better, but I can't remember how it goes on. There was a Joyce Stranger book many years ago called "One for Sorrow", I seem to remember.

    1. Goodness thats an amazing amount of magpies all at once - bet there isn't a rhyme for that many!
Joyce Stranger is a name from the past and my library days - I seem to think her books were mainly about animals? I shall look her up

  8. It looks like a good start to the boot sale season for you! We don't have boot sales here but we do have garage sales in warmer weather. Still, I would love to have it all in one place like your boot sales.

    1. There are a few garage sales in villages around about but car boot sales are better. I'm still surprised the idea hasn't taken off in other parts of the world

  10. Our boot sales haven't started yet, early March I think. Just hoping we will be able to get round at least a couple of rows, my hip is dodgy and Tom can't breath, what a pair, lol

    1. Oh dear poor Bo....he is probably just trying to make a nest, if hevhas 3 or 4 small blankets he will scrabble them about and not damage the bed. Way easier to wash and replace blankets than a new bed all the time.
Our Staffie was the same ☺

  11. I must put a boot sale on my to do list for the next visit "home". As far as I know they don't exist in Canada. Fortunately we do have charity shops but no where near as many as in the U.K. Perhaps I should bring over an empty suitcase for finds. I love your Brexit plan, and I love Maltesers.

  12. No crafty items! Gasp! I'm trying my hardest not to buy any but, like books, I can hear things calling my name!
