Timing it Right

If I go and collect my prescription meds from the pharmacy at my doctors in a nearby village on the right day at the right time, I can treat myself. Because twice a week the fish and chip shop in the same village does a cheap Pensioners lunch for £3.50.

It's probably a good thing that I only pick up tablets once a month!
 Plaice and chips last week.

Thanks for comments over the last few days especially the ones found late, sorry I've not had a chance to reply.

Back Tomorrow

  1. We have a fish and chip van come to our village on a Thursday lunchtime and Saturday evening, we have cod and chips from there about once every couple of months. It's delicious, literally the best I've ever tasted, their batter is fantastic. And such massive portions....we have one portion of chips between us and it's enough for four, we freeze the rest of the chips. Our 2 pieces of fish we share with the dog, she loves it as much as we do.

  2. That's a very good meal at a very good price! Well worth taking advantage of. What a lovely thing to have and do.
And you have reminded me - I need a repeat prescription too!

  4. That looks so tasty, we don’t often have fish and chips from the chip shop as it’s a mile walk each way so they are cold by the time I get back.

  6. Ooooh....I haven't had plaice for absolutely ages. It's not an option at our local chip shops but I wish it was.

  7. Ah, man. I miss fish and chips--especially plaice. No where in the US can they make fish and chips like the local shops in the UK. Plaice isn't served in US either. Always have it when I visit the UK.

Growing up in the UK (1950s, early 1960s), my family always ended every holiday with a meal at the local F&C shop (and every Friday night, too), served up in absorbent paper, covered again with wax paper and then wrapped again in newspaper to keep it hot. Yum. Glad you were able to time things just right to get your plaice and chips.

    1. When I was young we would have fish and chips on Saturday evenings sometimes and always wrapped in newspaper back then. Not now though

  13. Husband needs to take an engine for service at weekend and I might insist on fish and chips on the harbour wall overlooking Wells next the sea.
