A Tea Party and Home In Time..................

..........to see Andy Murray winning!

Big WI is 100 years old this year and one of the things planned to celebrate was to throw a tea-party for the village.

In the morning I made cheese straws, lots of cheese straws!

Took them to the village hall at 2pm where there were 9 of us, plating up cakes, laying tables, cutting sandwiches, heating up kettles etc all ready to open the doors at 4pm

Proper teacups were borrowed for the occasion.

A good time was had by all
I was in the kitchen helping with the washing up - we had great fun!

Came home with  a few leftovers for my tea

Just in time to watch Andy Murray and his partner Pierre-Hugues Herbert's brilliant win in the mens doubles.

What a good day.

Many thanks for comments yesterday, do look back and read the post and comments if you didn't see it - all interesting. The WI tea party is  was something that definitely falls into the simple happy pleasures category. 😊

  10. Tea parties are such fun. Sometimes the kitchen is the most rewarding place to be with laughter and camaraderie. I'm glad you enjoyed it.
Very interesting comments yesterday on your excellent post. It took me a day to gather my thoughts but I've plonked them on now.

  12. What a wonderful way to celebrate a centenary. It looks well attended and enjoyed.
Because of the time difference I only got to see a bit of the mens double. It starts at 0300 here and I'm not that dedicated. I am following Cori Gauff and her adventures through Wimbledon. My errant hope is that she eventually will play Serena and beat her as soundly as she did Venus. It's time for the Williams sisters to let the youngsters get the spotlight. (sorry for the rant, I truly don't like Serena).

  14. Sue, I would love to know what cheese straws are. When I was a teenager a woman I boarded with made something she called cheese straws out of cottage cheese (made from milk when the cows got into the stink weed). I’ve never been able to track down a recipe.

  15. Looks like you had a good turnout of people, Sue. I love vintage China and use a load of mis-matched china when I hold my annual Marie Curie tea party. The cakes look scrummy!
