The Co-op Meal Deal

Did I see this on a blog or was it from a Co-op email?

Either way I did a detour to a Co-op on my way home from town and picked up their £5 Meal deal

That's 4 meals for me plus extra chips and peas ..........A handy addition to the freezer,  especially looking forward to the ice cream as usually I buy the cheapest supermarket vanilla.

Thought the weather men had over-talked the yellow weather warning yesterday as it stayed fine until midday but after that - horrible........ loads of rain and so cold, I thought about putting the heating on but just swapped from shorts to leggings plus socks and jumper, so glad I'm not still running a campsite! the loo block floors would have been horrible.

Back Tomorrow

  1. Whenever we stayed on campsites in our tourer caravan, I was full of admiration for the staff - mostly for cleaning the shower blocks, but also for keeping the sites rubbish free, maintaining the lovely flower displays, running the office/shop, answering endless questions and remaining cheerful at all times! With the very odd exception. I once went into a site shower cubicle only to find that the previous user had actually done a poo in it! Honestly! I reported it to the warden, who sighed and said she'd seen worse - I dread to think what!

    1. How revolting - never had that problem. Just the person who took their dog into the shower!

  2. That's an incredibly good value meal deal, isn't it? Enjoy!

The rain started south of London just before I set off home and it was absolutely horrible all round the M25. I'ds never normally have driven motorway in those conditions. I nearly turned the heating on too, when I got home, but managed without. It's pretty chilly this morning as well.

  3. Bargain, and all good branded food too so you should know what you are getting for the price. We were only discussing meal deals in work last night, how we buy them for the wine and see the food as a bonus. A very autumnal day in west Wales today indeed.

    1. I've tried the cheap supermarket version of that sort of fish - it was horrible - very chewy and tasteless.
I'm too far from an M&S to try their meal deal with wine

  4. I miss the Co-op they use to have some good deals. I am not thinking about the weather yesterday except I nearly but my heating on. It was WI last night quite a few were missing but we had a lovely supper prepared by the committee and then they had a quiz nice evening.
Beautiful blue sky except the wind is still around, hope to get in the garden I think all the damsons have fallen, I plan on having the tree cut down a lot next year it's very large and I don't get much fruit from it, also it spoils the view from the fields.

  5. Please don't eat them all in one go.

  6. I have bought their meal deals in the past as it's normally food that appeals to the grandchildren and well worth the fiver.

    1. I could look and find out the true cost - but can't be bothered!

  7. I have a Co-op 10% discount card, but we don't shop there as we find them more expensive than the others, unless they've changed.

    1. We still have divi card and get vouchers here in Suffolk, but I don't often shop there except for their locally produced meat

  8. Those specialty ice creams can almost cost £5 so you managed to get a good bargain.

Having trouble imagining the heating on in August--facing yet another week of unrelenting heat (33c+) and high humidity. Hope you get a little more temperate weather.

  10. Yep, it's been cold here too, I caved in and switched the Aga back on ...the dogs were cuddled up together in one bed looking chilly.

The meal deal usually works out around half the retail price. Last time I bought it I went on mysupermarket.com to see how much it would have cost me elsewhere.

I guess it's a good price, and good quantities for a family of four for one meal but it does make it seem better when you can get four meals or more out of it doesn't it :-)

  11. I have to say, that Co-op meal deal is worth having, though I would just have to sniff longingly at the ice cream at the mo.

I had 3 layers on the other day and thought, here comes autumn . . .

  12. Almost autumnal in the mornings. The seasons go by so quickly, don't they? We don't have a co-op other than as a corner shop.

    God bless.

  15. I suspect that the fish is Basa, a Catfish that comes from the Mekong Delta in Indo-China where the banks are lined with Chemical factories which pollute the waters there. A 'Google' will show you what chemical elements you will consume from that fish. I would not trust 'Youngs' at all after finding out where they source their fish before packaging it in attractive cartons. Maybe not such a bargain?
