First of all I must say Thank You for everyone who commented on posts and I didn't get round to replying especially on the book posts. Several people said they got ideas for reading which is good news. Also "Bye" to people who've un-followed (not that I'm counting or checking of course!)
I call this cheats card making as it's basically just sticking toppers and 3D Decoupage sheets onto card blanks.
I think these are from bits picked up at boot-sales, but can't remember finding the cat-on-armchair sheets at all and no picture of them in any posts with 'Carboot Bargains' or 'Charity Shop Finds' labels. The teddy card 3D sheets made a card for Middle Grandsons 2nd Birthday next month, they came among a bundle from a friend for Christmas.
Next I have a some Christmas Card decoupage cards to put together. They must have come from a boot sale sometime too and were in the drawer underneath the cards I had ready to send out this year. It's odd that I can't remember where these came from either and also no photos..They were all muddled up in a plastic folder, so after sorting out there was enough to make 8 cards. I need to get busy with the sticky fixers next week.
The first book read in 2022 was this, which has been sitting on shelves for a year or so. It will go on the pile for selling when I've collected enough to make it worthwhile sending them. I'm determined to move books out as well as buying.

That's what I've been doing this week along with a shopping trip for fresh fruit and veg, some cleaning, washing and ironing, one morning up the road at The Old Schoolroom for WI Knit, stitch and natter group -I'm just knitting a dishcloth - and a day of driving and looking after Eldest Granddaughter and a day of recovering from driving and looking after EG!
Your cards look absolutely lovely. No cheating about them at all, it takes skill to make them look as good as yours do!

Thank you - Sticking bits on cards isn't very adventurous!
DeleteYou seem to have made those cards very quickly! I'm slow. I have far too much card making stuff and have an ambitious plan to start using it up. We'll see what comes of my good intentions. There's no excuse not to do it as one dark, wet day succeeds another.
ReplyDeleteI rustled them up in a morning that's why it feels like cheating!
DeleteThe cards look great, handmade cards are pretty special aren't they, and no it's not cheating. After all you're assembling artistically aren't you. ❤️
ReplyDeleteI trying to use up craft stuff so it takes up less room. Still have too much
DeleteBut it's so satisfying when component parts get turned into useable items and can be filed away ready for use isn't it.
DeleteI love your cards and you will be ready for the first one needs it. I enjoy making cards and people do like handmade ones.
ReplyDeleteI started my new blanket yesterday and by the look of the weather -pouring of rain- after clearing up I will be crocheting again.
Have a good weekend Sue and others.

A horrible really wet Saturday here. Hope your weekend is good
DeleteIf that is cheating then I'm the biggest cheat around as all my cards are made that way. I'm not artistic like Sooze and others, nor did I want to spend a fortune on different expensive equipment, just something to keep me occupies. For birthdays, with close family and friends, I do compose the verses making them more personal which go down well with the recipient.
ReplyDeleteI have also read one book this year, Michael Connoly's "The Innocence of Law" which I received for Christmas.
Well done for writing your own verses in cards - I couldn't do that
DeleteYour cards are so much nicer than anything I've ever managed. You've made beautiful things.
ReplyDeleteThank you
DeleteYour cards are creative, clever and beautiful. It's very cold and snow covered here but the sky is clear and bright blue. As an unskilled knitter, your knitting group sounds very good. Anything handmade is going to be great long lasting quality.
ReplyDeleteMy knitting is very very basic so I only do dishcloths! I'll sort out some x stitch for next time
DeleteBeautiful cards you have created! Thanks for your many book selections/suggestions.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you enjoy the book posts
DeleteI think anything created by hand deserves some admiration and doesn't it do us good to be creative :)
ReplyDeleteI like these easy cards but it feels too easy!
DeleteI found the Donna Leon / Inspector Brunetti series through your blog. Have really enjoyed it so much.
ReplyDeleteI'm so pleased you are enjoying them - they are well written
DeleteYour cards are impressive - I would be proud of them if I had made them :)
ReplyDeleteI never think my cards are very good!
DeleteI love all the cards you've made. I especially like the arm chairs with the cats. I remember the days of needing to recover after looking after grandchildren! Those days do pass quickly though and the grands grow up so fast. I have not been able to comment as much on blogs lately but I always read and enjoy yours!
ReplyDeleteIt was easier now she's 5 and I guess will get even easier as they grow. This is one time I miss my late husband as he would have loved to look after grandchildren
DeleteI just haven't been doing enough reading lately
ReplyDeleteI'd miss it I didn't read - would be lost without a book
DeleteI'm reading Laurie Lee's 'A Village Christmas' and "The Dig' by John Preston. I love them both. You put me to shame, really. I didn't even manage to get cards sent this year, let alone make my own.
ReplyDeleteI tried The Dig when it was first published but couldn't get on with it for a reason I can't remember!
DeleteReally? I just finished it, and I loved it. I wonder if it was because I'd seen the beautiful movie first?
DeleteYou have a wonderful weekend. Love the cards.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
Thank you
DeleteLovely cards and handy in a flash when needed.
ReplyDeleteYes I like to have some ready for the year
DeleteI think those cards are as lovely as everyone else has said x I might read today x
ReplyDeleteHope you find a good book to get into
DeleteGood idea to begin card making now, I always leave things too late and end up buying more instead of using up all the stuff here! Back to one of my books after lunch.
ReplyDeleteI often look through the bundles of cards in charity shops to find ones with ages for grandchildren or 'son' 'daughter' etc as well as making some
DeleteI like those cards and I like the idea of making your own cards. I like the idea of knitting dishcloths also. I will have to look into that as I am only a basic knitter! I need some crafts to keep myself busy so I can feel productive while I watch TV. Then I can convince myself I am not wasting time! :)
ReplyDeleteMy knitting is limited to being able to cast on, do knit stitch and cast off so dishcloths are my only make!
DeleteYes, Sue, that is why I thought I might be able to manage it. That is about all I can do too! :)
DeleteI was in m&s today, all the Christmas cards, tags and wraps were reduced to 20p. I bought three packs of 12 cards for 60p in total. Worth looking out for to do the decouparget? With envelopes as well?
ReplyDeleteI forgot I had some Mary Engelbreit cards and stickers until last year. It had been awhile since I used them. I have now! I put items away in plastic boxes and put them somewhere and see them later! :-/ I enjoy using them. Your cards look nice. Have a safe time out and about driving.
