(Almost) Home Produced Meal

 Saturday's main meal

A small Aubergine grilled and  topped with sliced tomatoes, basil leaves and grated cheese. Served up with green beans. With this I had a homemade tomato and herb bread roll to mop up the juices.

As near as I can get to a wholly home produced meal now.

Back Tomorrow

  1. That looks very appetizing and a good way to use aubergines. I'll be picking mine soon.

  3. What a lovely simple meal, and I bet it was all the more tasty from being almost all home produced.

  4. Looks good. How do you grill your eggplant/aubergine? Under broiler or outside grill?

    1. What you call a broiler we call a grill. Part of the oven for cooking under direct high heat

  5. Looks delicious. The colorful presentation is always appealing too. I'll share my almost homemade chicken pie. Using a purchased and cooked small chicken, frozen mixed vegetables, chicken gravy in a jar, frozen pie crust and chopped onions... I put together a pretty good looking chicken pie. When it comes out of my oven friends say: "We did not know you can cook." After a few sips of wine, my secret is out!

  8. I have friend who every year produces an entirely home produced meal. He live sin north Wales and has an extensive garden cum small holding and fishing boat - even some bee hives. I was invited some years ago and it was like a forgotten world of freshness and flavour.. the vegetables, the fish, the fruits.. truly one of the best (and most honest ) meals of my life. He even made his own wine!
