Friday 28th

Nothing to write about today so I shall share this, which Ken Bruce has been playing on Radio 2 this week.  A new release -  The Best Mistakes by The Divine Comedy. Just love Neil Hannon's voice.

I discovered he is on tour through 2022 and at the Ipswich Regent in May although at £28+ a ticket maybe not. That's probably the going price but not for me.

  1. Thanks for the Neil Hannon clip - I love his voice too. "National Express" is one of my favourites. Not sure I'll be shelling out for a ticket for his tour though, I realise £30 is the going rate for such tickets now, but that's not a feature of my budget plan

    1. National Express is the one that often gets played on Radio 2 but there are so many other good tracks on his CD

  2. Music is such a comfort sometimes. My daughter, 50 plus, is going off to a concert in Manchester tonight - Wet Leg - never heard of them!

  3. Another Neil Hannon fan here. My daughter introduced me to The Divine Comedy years ago and I was immediately hooked. I also like his other band, The Duckworth Lewis Method, with its songs about cricket.

    1. I first came across the Divine Comedy when Absent Friends was played on the evening Regional radio programme by a DJ who later got the sack for not sticking to the proper playlist! I'm glad he didn't!

  4. Love it, I do like songs where you have to listen to the lyrics to truly appreciate them. The first time I heard National Express I thought 'what the bloody hell was that all about' but it grew on me so quickly.

    1. There are so many better than National Express which never get played on Radio. Sadly

  5. The lyrics can be related to by everyone and his voice is divine. A ticket to the concert would make a nice gift for you if your family is searching for the "right gift."

  8. Live music is a luxury we pay for here in France, as it's not often that bands we like come here. We're going to see Neil Hannon in March -yippee!! We've seen him several times over the years.

Sadly the other concert we were going to (in the UK) by our absolutely favourite band (Big Big Train) was cancelled because of the untimely death of the lead singer. That was a shock and a very sad thing.
