A Totally Different Week

Every Saturday I look back at my week but last week was a bit different - because I had a few days away from home in the City of Lincoln!

I didn't mention it on the blog beforehand - not wanting the world to know I was away from home but a few months ago I suggested to Son and DiL that if they drove- I would pay for a cottage in Lincoln. They hadn't been before and wanted to visit and I'd only had a short caravan holiday nearby with Col and Ally on a weekend so hot that we hardly looked around anywhere.

We stayed in a house close to the cathedral and the weather stayed dry for us and mainly sunny.
Warm enough for the first ice-cream of the year.

We visited Tattershall Castle on the way up and the Cathedral, Castle and Museum while we were there. We walked down and up Steep Hill............but only the once! Blimey it's steep.

I've got lots of photos to share next week.

 This week I'm grateful for
  •  Being able to spend time with Son, DiL and Willow
  •  Safe journeys there and back
  • The joy of visiting new places
Have a lovely weekend everyone - hope the weather isn't as bad as the forecast predicts. So many events in villages all around are planned for this Bank Holiday weekend - hope they are not all rained off or blown away!

Oh BTW, Andrew Stringer got re-elected for the Green Party in the new larger ward now including my village. In Mid Suffolk District the Conservatives lost their overall majority, lost the leader of the council and the District now has no party in overall control - not always a good thing - but it does mean that they'll all have to work together....somehow. I was pleased to see that our ward had the highest turnout of the whole District 49.49% - not bad for local elections.

Back Monday

  5. Glad you enjoyed your visit to Lincoln. That is where my daughter lives and she loves the City. Steep Hill is indeed very steep and you feel like you need oxygen by the time you get to the top. Used to live to Tattershall Castle it's lovely on a nice day.

  6. So glad you had a lovely break. I used to work in an ice cream shop and I had a real eye opener, no weather, it seems, is too cold for an ice cream!

  8. A well deserved break with good company. Did you take any photographs of Steep Hill? I am curious as to high steep it is.

I got my voting papers for the European Parliament this morning and out of 47 candidates I've only heard of Ann Widdecome. (I do lead a sheltered life now, lol.)

    Enjoy your weekend.

  11. Happy you had a good trip with some of the family. Nice to get outside one's own environs once and a while. Better you than me trying to climb Steep Hill (rubbish ankle at the moment)!
