Last Thursday I came home from the library van with this good haul of books that I'd requested online. Good thing there are several as the next visit in 4 weeks is cancelled due to it now being the Queens Bank Holiday. Doubt these will last me 8 weeks - that will give me a chance to read something from my shelves.
Anyway, as usual they are mostly crime fiction including two that will be brilliant, others that will be very good and one I don't know about plus two non-fiction for browsing
It's the Rory Clements and the Jacqueline Winspear that I'm most excited to read.
In April I brought home all this lot and have kept the Spirit of the Blitz as it's not exactly riveting reading, so I'm reading a bit at a time.
9 read and listed on the Books Read 2022 page. 4 Returned un-read including the Jan Morris posthumous book which was a bit odd. I flicked through the cookery book but had seen it before.
Gosh, you must read all day long to get through that lot! Because I am always so busy I am lucky to read a book a fortnight. Reading another brilliant Welsh-orientated book "Jane Evans" by Christine Purkis. Set firstly in Wales (Drovers journey) and then the Crimea. Recommended.
ReplyDeleteI usually only read in the evenings averaging two books a week. I'll check out that author
DeleteThe Ladybird book looks like one I had which I passed on to my Grand-daughter. At the moment I am reading the Percy Jackson series by Rick Riordan, not my usual type of book, but it is what the said Grand-daughter is reading and I expressed an interest. I've read the first and about to read the second.
ReplyDeleteI haven't had a look at the Ladybird designs book yet - looked up the author you mentioned - bit weird for me
DeleteI have been listening to the Rory Clements series , out of order though, but do not think it matters that much. They are very good.
ReplyDeleteHe writes so well, a bit violent sometimes but good stories
DeleteNow you have put me in a dilemma. Just checked Rory Clements on Audible and there is a whole load of books. Which should I start with I woder.
ReplyDeleteAt the beginning! Look on Fantastic Fiction website for the first in this series - they are brilliant
DeleteThanks for that, I have Corpus in my reading list now.
DeleteThat looks like some good reading.
ReplyDeleteSome good authors to look forward to
DeleteJust read the Winspear book. It was much better than her last one in that series. I enjoyed it a lot.
ReplyDeleteYour library is brilliant at collecting the books you prefer and making them easily available to you. Two books a week is good reading. Are the books sitting in your leather reading chair? That chair looks very comfortable. I might have the twin. (Stressless leather recliner in large.)
ReplyDeleteIt's brilliant being able to order online, requested books move around the county by van to where theyve been ordered and can be returned to any Suffolk library. A good way of moving stock around
DeleteNothing makes me happier than a stack of books.
ReplyDeleteMy library photos are definitely Happy Photos!
DeleteLooks like a great set of books…have read a few of them
ReplyDeleteI shall enjoy all of them I think
DeleteI always get good suggestions from your library book photos. I'm currently working through Peter May novels - an author I knew nothing of until your April photo!
ReplyDeleteI've only read a few of his books so far, some are a bit odd or violent can't remember which
DeleteI just finished A Sunlit Weapon and really enjoyed it. I love those Maisie Dobbs books by Winspear. I have been reading the Peter Diamond series by Peter Lovesey and I like them!
ReplyDeleteI know that will be a good read - they've all been brilliant
DeleteWow what a wonderful lot of books! The Year Unfolding sounds interesting. I am still plodding my way through some of the books in the house though I have been sorely tempted to buy some new ones! I might have to check out the library instead.
ReplyDeleteHer prints are so good I shall enjoy browsing through
DeleteGreat haul of reading material. I may just have to add a few of those titles to my reading list.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
Hope you enjoy those you find
