The May Library Book Photo

Last Thursday I came home from the library van with this good haul of books that I'd requested online. Good thing there are several as the next visit in 4 weeks is cancelled due to it now being the Queens Bank Holiday. Doubt these will last me 8 weeks - that will give me a chance to read something from my shelves.

Anyway, as usual they are mostly crime fiction including two that will be brilliant, others that will be very good and one I don't know about plus two non-fiction for browsing

From the left is a book about the work of print-maker Angela Harding. (About time it arrived - it went walkabout for 3 months!)
Next the new books by Rory Clements and Jacqueline Winspear. Then a book about Ladybird books. Next is the latest by Robin Blake set in 1740's Preston. Then on the bottom on the right is an old Donna Leon that I've not read.
Patricia Hall is a crime author I used to read years ago. Then there are two D.E.Stevenson's both Furrowed Middlebrow re-prints and Post After Postmortem is a British Library Crime Classic reprint by one of their best authors.
Murder at Claridges by Jim Eldridge is the most recent by this relatively new-to-me author and on the top of the pile is the one I have no idea about. It's by Rachael Blok - must have been mentioned somewhere.

It's the Rory Clements and the Jacqueline Winspear that I'm most excited to read.

In April I brought home all this lot and have kept the Spirit of the Blitz as it's not exactly riveting  reading, so I'm reading a bit at a time.

9 read  and listed on the Books Read 2022 page. 4 Returned un-read including the Jan Morris posthumous book which was a bit odd. I flicked through the cookery book but had seen it before.

  1. Gosh, you must read all day long to get through that lot! Because I am always so busy I am lucky to read a book a fortnight. Reading another brilliant Welsh-orientated book "Jane Evans" by Christine Purkis. Set firstly in Wales (Drovers journey) and then the Crimea. Recommended.

    1. I usually only read in the evenings averaging two books a week. I'll check out that author

  2. The Ladybird book looks like one I had which I passed on to my Grand-daughter. At the moment I am reading the Percy Jackson series by Rick Riordan, not my usual type of book, but it is what the said Grand-daughter is reading and I expressed an interest. I've read the first and about to read the second.

  6. Just read the Winspear book. It was much better than her last one in that series. I enjoyed it a lot.

  7. Your library is brilliant at collecting the books you prefer and making them easily available to you. Two books a week is good reading. Are the books sitting in your leather reading chair? That chair looks very comfortable. I might have the twin. (Stressless leather recliner in large.)

    1. It's brilliant being able to order online, requested books move around the county by van to where theyve been ordered and can be returned to any Suffolk library. A good way of moving stock around

  12. Wow what a wonderful lot of books! The Year Unfolding sounds interesting. I am still plodding my way through some of the books in the house though I have been sorely tempted to buy some new ones! I might have to check out the library instead.
