I Reckon His Wife...............................

.............................wasn't best pleased when she got back to her car boot table.

He was explaining to someone else that his wife had just gone to look round and he wasn't sure on prices.
I picked up these and said "How Much?" . He said " Oh I'm not sure ....£3?"   " Will you take £2?" I asked and he said yes. So I paid up and left PDQ.

Because I'd spotted the label that said £15!

My first thought with these was to use them for planters, the small one was just the right size for the top of the "shabby chic" ladder. But on closer inspection decided they were too good to use outside, and I don't think I really need them indoors, so they'll go back to a boot sale for a profit!

My other purchase was this box of hot chocolate drinks, the sort of thing you buy for people for Christmas when you don't know what they want. I bet it was about £6.99 at Christmas. I paid 50p.

After the pricey Olive tree at Saturdays boot-sale, £2.50 was a much better spend for Sunday.

Back Tomorrow
Sue

  5. Gosh I wish we had car boot sales near me! It doesn't seem to be a popular thing in Scotland. Probably saved myself a fortune tho!!

  6. Great finds again - we have a couple of similar crates from daughter's wedding and although they look nice I have not found a use for them yet.

  8. I don,t understand. If full price was £15. You paid £12 more than they were worth new?

  10. Wow I would have loved those as storage for my knitting wool, it was our Scouts gala here and yes I did come home with a few bargains including a brand new Regatta day size rucksack for £1 50, just what I was looking for the one I have is now very shabby and worn at the corners, was also brand new when I got it at a former table top sale. I also got some brand new books all at 20p each one of which was about Annie Sloan chalk painting for a friend who loves that sort of thing plus a clutch of nice books for the little ones.

    1. You wouldn't want them for wool as the wood is a bit rough around the edges but too good for outside planters which was what I planned on and with that new label still attached I reckon I should get a fiver for them

  11. That could be your new plan...watch for when a wife takes a break from her car boot. Think of the possibly bargains!

  12. Years ago I bought a Victorian sewing machine for £2. The shop assistant in the junk shop was bored and happy to get rid of it. It was a beautiful little chain stitcher. I eventually donated it to Oxfam as I’d always felt a bit guilty about the price! xx

  14. Selling at a car boot sale once with my ex-husband we were selling lots of sewing supplies from my late Aunties estate and I had a HUGE bundle of long, brand new zips that I had labelled at 20p each ... my husband misread the label and sold the lot to a lady for just 20p. She nearly snatched his hand off to get them off him before I could get to the other end of the table.

I would definitely use the boxes as planters outside, so what if they seem 'too good', you are definitely worth having and using nice things. Line them with some plastic with a few holes pierced in it and either plant in them directly or just pop in some planted up plant pots.

The confusion above over the price you paid in the comment above, is because your question mark looks like a 7 on my computer too. So it looks at first glance like you paid £27 for them ... hence £12 more than the original price label.

    1. Oh right, that explains the comment, it made no sense to me. wonder why a question mark looks like a 7.
I;ve drilled some holes in clay pots so I can wire them to my ladder instead of using the new crates, they look good better than the crates would I reckon

  15. You are the bargain hunter. I would not be surprised if you decide to keep the crates, they are fabulous.
