Flower Festival in a Church

Another small Suffolk Church in another small village not far from the A140 Ipswich to Norwich road.

I called in for a quick visit to the flower festival I'd seen advertised on a poster after going to the Jumble Sale in the church that I wrote about on Tuesday.
St Andrews Church in Wickham Skeith is in the middle of the village but tucked away down a track behind the Manor House.

Wickham was a name give to their villages by the very earliest English settlers and there has probably been a church here since very early days of Christianity but the one here now was rebuilt in the 14th and 15th centuries and then Victorianised later.

The bells were ringing to celebrate the start of the 3 day flower festival and there was a marquee doing teas and cakes  too - I didn't partake this time!

The flowers were mostly on the window sills and as it was a lovely bright morning the pictures didn't come out too well. I think the theme was 'Numbers' but not sure how some of arrangements matched the theme

Just a quick visit and not a church to revisit for a separate post as it's so typical of so many in Suffolk villages.

  2. Some are very beautiful, I am wondering how did they find enough flowers at this time of the year. Herbology has a nice ring to it.

  6. Even the simple ones have been arranged to show off its own simplicity.

  7. My favourite arrangement would have to be the one with the irises. I love the little bird's nest and the duckies in the dish :)

  10. The flower arrangements are nicely done and add beauty to the inside of the church. The arrangement styles are wide ranging and this makes it all the more interesting.

  13. You only regret the cake you don't eat! And I bet you had a long walk that would have justified it.

My mother used to say when she retired she wanted to be one of the volunteers who arrange gorgeous flowers at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. I need to remind her that would be a great skill to learn! I am sure it is harder than it looks.
